- There was minimal production throughout the Challenge with an unlikely player earning their second top score of the campaign.
- After a good start to August, Matt is now mired in a four day hitless slump. The latest to blank on him was Detroit's Jeimer Candelario whose Tigers were as a team shut out by the Rays.
- Ed's perfect August went up in smoke with Milwaukee's Rowdy Tellez. The Brewers bopper didn't get his final chance in extra innings to dramatically break his blank as he was pinch hit for by Andrew McCutchen in an eventual loss to the Reds.
- While the Yankees haven't won since they traded Joey Gallo and the Dodgers haven't lost, the much-maligned slugger hasn't paid any dividends in the Pick One. After blanking for Matt the day prior, Gallo went 0-for-3 for Lenny on Sunday Night Baseball against the Padres adding two more strikeouts to his season total.
- Boston didn't seem willing to listen to offers on either JD Martinez or Xander Bogaerts in good faith at the deadline. Instead they are sticking around for results like the 13-5 beating they took from the Royals. However, Martinez (Ryan) and Bogaerts (Al) both singled in the loss.
- Normally finding himself as a Last Man In candidate, David Fletcher was instead an outright selection by Buddy against the Mariners. Despite yet another loss, the infielder was able to snare a double for our game leader.
- Two highly touted preseason prospects both saw selections on the day. Miami's JJ Bleday (Nate) and Adley Rutschman (Pavli & Scott) each singled in their games which had vastly different outcomes.
- The Marlins held the Cubs to just two hits in a win while the Orioles only had four in a loss to the Pirates. Fortunately for Colin though two of those hits, including a home run, came off the bat of his selection Jorge Mateo. It is the second time in two weeks that the Baltimore shortstop has had the top score by way of cycle bread, the second Orioles player to have two top scores in 2022.
- Optimally, the day's Last Man In would have been your best bet as LA's Cody Bellinger homered twice and singled for nine total bases in a 4-0 win for the Dodgers over the Padres.
