- I am sensing a bit of fatigue with the AL Central when it comes to doubleheaders. The NL East had one the other day and all ten men jumped at the prospect of not having to pick someone from the five team overbooked mess that is the AL's least interesting division.
- With that bit of slander out of the way, seven of the ten participants did not share those sentiments and took a player from either the Tigers or the Guardians.
- The three outliers all were rewarded for their leaving the herd. Colin got a pair of singles from Cubs rookie Seiya Suzuki yet his side still fell to the league-worst Nationals.
- Atlanta and Philadelphia both made up ground on the Mets on the day. Nate's pick Vaughn Grissom (one single, one double) and the Braves missed the extra point on the second touchdown in beating New York. Lenny's selection Jean Segura doubled and scored for the Phillies as they held off the Reds.
- It feels like burying the lead in the middle of the recap but nevertheless it was a chase day in the Challenge. Buddy double blanked with Cleveland's Amed Rosario. It was the second time this season he blanked during a doubleheader.
- Scott and Ryan were unable to take advantage of this fortuitous occasion as both of their selections, Detroit's Harold Castro and Miguel Cabrera, also double blanked in the split with the Guardians.
- Third place is becoming a hotly contested spot in the standings. Matt was able to fend off Al for one more day with a pair of singles from Riley Greene. Al inched ever so closer though with a single and a double from Greene's Tigers teammate Javier Baez.
- Oscar Gonzalez was one of four rookies selected on the day along with Suzuki, Greene, and Grissom. Cleveland's young gun did the best of the bunch mirroring his Game 1 stat line of a single and a double in Game 2 to net Pavli six total bases for the afternoon.
- But our day's top scorer, and optimal one at that, was Andres Gimenez. Ed got his first double-digit score of the season from the Cleveland All-Star. He homered in both legs of the twin bill and added a single and double in Game 1 to put him on a score of 11 total bases for his efforts.
