- As teams continue to be mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, Pick One selectors continue to try to pick off the best talent from those going home in October. 9 of the 10 picks made on this day were from teams currently on the outside looking in of the postseason.
- That outlier was Colin's pick Sam Haggerty. The Mariners outfielder could not help his club stop a three-game losing streak with two strikeout blank against the Angels.
- Once on the brink of the final playoff spot, the Giants have been in freefall and find themselves with little shot of getting back up. Last Man In Heliot Ramos scored two of San Francisco's three runs against the Dodgers but could not find a hit for Nate in the end.
- Six of the remaining eight selections came from the Kansas City/Boston contest. The two non-Sox/Royals were Pavli's pick Elvis Andrus, who singled in Chicago's 11-5 over Detroit, and Ryan's pick Mike Ford, who singled twice in Los Angeles' 5-1 over Seattle.
- The only blank to come from the six picks from Royals/Red Sox made it a chase day in the Pick One. Buddy's pick MJ Melendez walked and scored but couldn't get a hit before being defensively substituted in the blowout.
- Matt's pick Christian Arroyo was the only Red Sox selection that didn't get a double against the Royals. He only singled while Rob Refsnyder (Scott) hit one double and JD Martinez (Lenny) hit two.
- Vinnie Pasquantino was one of three Royals to have a multi-hit game in the 13-3 shellacking. Ed got three total bases from the KC rookie via a single and a double.
- One of the other two (sorry Drew Waters) was the day's top scorer Salvador Perez. Al had a nice helping of cycle bread from the Royals DH whose home run actually put his team within striking distance before the bullpen wheels fell off in the later innings. The five total bases was Perez's best output in the Pick One Challenge over the past two seasons.
- Optimally, had Al, Colin, or Lenny wanted to they could have answered the summons from the honorable Aaron Judge and earned 11 total bases. Two more home runs, a single, and an RBI double was the main attraction in a game where the Yankees and Brewers combined for eight home runs.
