- The Wild Card round began three days of tenseness with four games over the two leagues. The Guardians and Phillies were the only two teams to not get a single selection from our ten participants.
- Maybe Al and Buddy should have looked to Carlos Santana's old teams because on the Mariners he didn't do much for them in Seattle's shutout win over the Blue Jays. The only double pick of the day went 0-4 with a pair of K's.
- The other Mariner taken on the day was Colin's pick Mitch Haniger. Although he probably won't reach picked out status like he did in 2021, the Seattle outfielder did what he could in the interim with a double in victory.
- Matt Chapman was the only Blue Jays player to go for extra bases in the loss to the Mariners. Adding a single to a double had to be music to Lenny's ears given the scoreline.
- The lone representative from Philadelphia/St. Louis was Scott's pick Brendan Donovan. The Cardinals bullpen imploded in the ninth but the blanking Donovan could only watch from the dugout having been subbed out defensively in the eighth.
- There was only one A in the Randy's name that blanked for Matt. To be fair to Randy Arozarena, only three hits were to be had from them against Shane Bieber and company.
- If you asked your Siri "Who was the only Rays player to score against Cleveland in their 2022 Pick One debut?", One- that would be an incredibly complicated to ask an AI. Two- the answer, if they were able to answer you competently, was Pavli's pick Jose Siri who hit a sixth inning shot off Shane Bieber for Tampa's only offense.
- Ryan stayed in California to begin the postseason with San Diego's Jurickson Profar. He feasted on cycle bread in the San Diego victory over the Mets for five total bases.
- It was the yin and yang for New York in the Pick One. Nate's pick Mark Canha repped the yin with an 0-for-4 performance in Game 1.
- But taking home his third top score of the season, and like Siri providing his team's only offense of the day, was Ed's pick Eduardo Escobar. He doubled and homered for two of the Mets' three extra base hits against San Diego. His six total bases was also the optimal score on the first day of Wild Card contests.
