- There were only four matchups upon baseball's return from the All-Star break but half of those were doubleheaders. Nine of our ten participants took advantage of that.
- Fortunately for the field as a whole it was also a chase day. Buddy was our only blank, the fourth (fifth if you count the ASG bow out) on the trot for our game leader with Houston's Yulieski Gurriel. His Astros swept the twin bill with the Yankees but he went cold in Game 1 and didn't appear in Game 2.
- Every other Astro taken had their scores in a nice neat row. Ed's pick Jose Altuve had one single. Al's selection Kyle Tucker had two. Lenny got a pair of hits as well from Jeremy Pena but it just so happened that one of those was a double to put him on three total bases in the double win day.
- Keeping it in the AL West, every Oakland selection produced two total bases via a single in each leg of a split with Detroit. Ramon Laureano, the day's lone double selection, got it done for both Scott and Colin while Vimael Machin did so for Nate.
- Three was the magic number in both a good and a bad way for Pavli's charge Javier Baez. He slapped three singles in Detroit's Game 1 win over the A's before striking out three times in a blanking effort in a Game 2 shutout loss.
- If you put our two top scorers' stat lines together you would have a completed cycle. Making sure the doubleheader pool had full representation was Ryan with New York's DJ LeMahieu. He hit his ninth home run of the season in Game 1 before getting a single as a pinch hitter in Game 2. Last Man In Trayce Thompson got the cycle meat for Matt with a double and a triple in Los Angeles' thrilling win over the Giants.
- Optimally, the doubleheader had several men get to seven total bases, but only Oakland's Seth Brown got to 8. He had four total hits between the two games with the Tigers (two singles, one double, & one home run).
