- Quite a bit went down in the Pick One Challenge but it was condensed to just three matchups.
- Two doubleheaders were available to our participants with eight of them taking somebody from either Mets/Braves or Mariners/Angels.
- The two outliers were Matt and Nate with Los Angeles' Joey Gallo and Mookie Betts respectively. Gallo joined David Peralta as a Pick One two-club man but could not get a hit in either of his two at-bats before being pinch hit for by the returning Chris Taylor. Betts was Nate's Home Run Hero selection for August. He didn't leave the yard in their win over San Diego but nearly got to that total base total with three singles.
- A pair more of Home Run Hero chips were used in the doubleheaders, one in each set of games. Al got a home run's worth of singles from Pete Alonso in the Mets' sweep of the Braves. It was the third time this season that the New York slugger failed to trigger the bonus. Shohei Ohtani could not continue his prolific August for Lenny though, double-blanking in a split with Mariners.
- Blanks were also on the menu for Buddy and Colin. Each man has had pressure mounted on them with the zeros. Dansby Swanson's hitless day leaves Buddy twelve total bases clear at the top. Carlos Santana's double-blank leaves the gap between Colin and the bottom three at just five total bases.
- Similarly to Alonso and Betts, it was all singles for the duo of Matt Olson (Pavli) and Jeff McNeil (Scott). Olson had three singles as the Braves fell twice to McNeil's Mets who had two singles in the wins.
- But our day's top scorers were a pair of All-Stars giving boosts to folks at the bottom of the table. Ed got three singles and a double from Ronald Acuna Jr. to push him past the 200 total base threshold for the season, an impressive feat given where he had to pull himself out from. It was a second-time charm for Ryan in picking out Ty France, getting two games worth of cycle bread from the Mariners slugger to complete the first full selection process of 2022.
- Optimally, even with some bad pitching performances and two doubleheaders on the docket it was Cincinnati's Jose Barrero who hit two home runs (eight total bases) for the Reds in their 7-5 win over the no-longer-in-first Brewers.
