- With less than a handful of games left to go, the preparations for the postseason have begun both in real life and in the Pick One Challenge.
- Only one player was selected from a team heading into the playoffs and in Matt's mind it was probably a blessing to get rid of him early. James McCann blanked for the Mets as they fell for a third straight game to the Braves. He was 0-for-3 before being pinch hit for.
- The lone All-Star taken on the day was Ed's pick Willson Contreras. The Cubs backstop would also blank as one of just two Chicago starters to go hitless against the Reds.
- After being the best possible selection two days prior, Evan Longoria did not afford Colin the same courtesy. Longoria did knock in a run in San Francisco's extra innings 4-3 win over Arizona, but that came from a sacrifice fly not a hit.
- JD Davis made Scott wait until that 10th inning to get a hit. His single loaded the bases to set the stage for David Villar's two-run single to win it.
- Taking the last seat on the second-guess sofa was Al with Minnesota's Nick Gordon. Gordon too would have a sac fly RBI but could not help spur the Twins offense to beat Detroit in the lunch time start.
- Pavli made a tiny bit of progress, which at this stage of the season is huge, in catching Buddy for top spot. His pick Adolis Garcia would double for the Rangers while Buddy's pick Triston Casas only had a single to offer the Red Sox.
- After three straight Oakland blanks, Ryan got three Oakland singles from Chad Pinder in the A's 10-3 win over the playoff-bound Mariners.
- San Francisco was the second team to garner two selections on the day, Detroit was the first. Batting leadoff for them and making his second appearance of the Pick One season in October was Nate's pick Akil Baddoo. He would single and score twice (once after a walk) in the victory.
- But taking home the top score was the other Tiger, Eric Haase. Lenny saw the Tigers catcher rudely welcome Twins prospect Simeon Woods-Richardson with a third inning solo shot to finish on four total bases.
- For the second straight day, Toronto's Teoscar Hernandez had nine total bases against Boston. A single and two more home runs was the recipe for optimization this time in the Blue Jays' 6-3 win.
