- We nearly had our first all hits day of the second half on a day where there were hits aplenty across the league.
- Two men entered the Last Man In Saloon but only one emerged with Los Angeles' Trayce Thompson. Nate got a single from Klay's brother while Matt had to meet BLANK after being assigned the outfielder yesterday.
- JT Realmuto put Lenny on the brink of 200 total bases for the season with his single in a loss to the Cubs (15-2) that somehow didn't even come close to being the worst of the day.
- Tampa Bay started their second half off properly with a win over the Royals. Three singles were hit by selections in the victory with two coming from Brandon Lowe (Ryan) and one from Randy Arozarena (Scott).
- A pair of A's also came off the board as well. Buddy broke glass with Chad Pinder and was rewarded with a single and a double against the Rangers. Seth Brown continued his streak of solid play with a five spot of cycle bread for Al after being the optimal scorer the day prior.
- I'm going to make you do some quick math here but if you take the average of the two Oakland scores you will get what both Andrew McCutchen (Colin) and Joey Wendle (Pavli) scored for the day. Cutch went yard against Colorado for his four total bases while Wendle had two singles and a double against the former MVP's former team, Pittsburgh.
- But our top scorer of the day, yanking himself out of the financial relegation zone in the process, was Ed with St. Louis All-Star Paul Goldschmidt. Only Washington has allowed more home runs this season than Cincinnati which means it is little surprise to see Ed drop the Home Run Hero hammer for this one. He hit one out along with one single to finish on a score of nine with the bonus. Goldy becomes the first man this year to earn top score four times.
- If the Home Run Hero hadn't been in play, you could have also earned nine total bases from either "catcher" in the historically lopsided 28-5 game between the Blue Jays and Red Sox. Catcher is in quotes because Toronto's Danny Jansen was the only one of the two men who hit two home runs and a single on the night who played the position. Boston's Christian Vazquez, their regular backstop, instead played both first and second base in the defeat.
