- Only one All-Star Game participant was selected on the day, New York's Jose Trevino. You can probably tell by the placement of this statement in the recap that our lone All-Star blanked for Ryan further hindering his chances of getting out of the Pick One cellar.
- Last Man In Austin Nola provided similar results for the duo of Lenny and Matt. San Diego's backstop only got one official at-bat (two walks) before being pinch hit for in the ninth inning of the Padres' loss to the Nationals.
- Two teams had two different players taken for the day. One of them was the Orioles who fell 2 1/2 games back in the AL Wild Card with a loss to the Cubs. In this Challenge though it was Colin and Ed going level on total bases as the former's pick, Ramon Urias, singled while the latter's, Anthony Santander, blanked.
- Zero progress was made on the day by Pavli as both him and Buddy picked Cardinals who singled twice. Things got out of hand real quick for the Cards against the Rockies which led to Brendan Donovan was pulled for the pinch hitting Albert Pujols in the third inning. Pujols would grand slam in that first at-bat. Tyler O'Neill made it through the full nine innings, driving in a run as part of a three-run first.
- Boston only had five hits in their disheartening loss to the Pirates but Nate's pick Tommy Pham was able to get one of them with a eighth inning single to break up the shutout.
- Three men have their Home Run Hero chip left for August after Scott used his on Texas' Marcus Semien. The Rangers' big gun knocked in one of the ten runs that Texas put up on Oakland, but did so with a single and sadly not a home run.
- But our day's top scorer didn't homer either. Al's pick George Springer raked five hits in Toronto's win over the Yankees, four singles and a double, to end on six total bases. This haul pushed Al into third place in the overall standings.
- Optimally, Alex Bregman was the biggest part of an absolute onslaught by the Astros on the White Sox. Houston put up three touchdowns on Chicago with all of Bregman's four hits going for extra bases. He doubled and homered twice apiece to end the night with 12 total bases.
