- Despite some sound selections made in the Challenge, it was a lean day on the scoreboard.
- Most of the despair came from Western Division selections. The Seattle Mariners Last Man In brigade of Cal Raleigh (Scott/Nate) and Taylor Trammell (Joseph) didn't get any of their side's 13 hits in their comeback win against Boston.
- Both Buddy and Colin went with San Francisco's Austin Slater. All they got was a pair of strikeouts before the leadoff man was pinch hit for in the fifth inning of their win over the Dodgers.
- At least Slater only had one crack at it. Manny Machado brought three people into the doldrums as he blanked in two games with Colorado for Al, Pavli, and Ryan.
- Making sure the west coast wasn't completely barren was Lenny's pick Jurickson Profar. He got a hit in each half of San Diego's split with the Rockies.
- But a much-needed top effort came from Matt's pick Oscar Gonzalez. The highly-rated Guardians rookie had three hits, a single and two doubles, to soften the blow of a double-up defeat at the hands of Oakland.
- Optimally, either one of Los Angeles' Mike Trout or Jared Walsh would have netted one 10 total bases on the day. Trout doubled once and homered twice for his bases while Walsh hit for the third cycle of the MLB season for his.
