- The siren's call of a doubleheader between two teams that will not be playoff bound was strong enough to lure eight of our ten competitors.
- Our two men who strayed away both found themselves longing as both New York's Francisco Lindor (Lenny) and Tampa Bay's Christian Bethancourt (Colin) blanked in their club's respective divisional losses.
- They weren't alone in the land of the lost opportunities though. Each team in the doubleheader had their own blanking representative. Al had to sit through two rough outings from Cincinnati's top prospect Spencer Steer. Ed's pain was quicker as Jose Iglesias left Game 1 with a hand injury sans a hit.
- Two players were double selected on the day, also one from each team. Each player got one base hit over the two games. Pavli and Ryan got their single from Cincinnati's Kyle Farmer while Buddy and Scott earned theirs from Colorado's Randal Grichuk.
- Nick Senzel was the high man for the Reds netting Nate three total bases. After blanking in Game 1, Senzel had a single and double in Game 2 which was a 10-0 win for Cincinnati.
- Conversely, all of the offense for our day's top scorer came in Game 1 of the doubleheader. Matt made CJ Cron the fifth player picked out for the season. The Colorado All-Star homered in his team's Game 1 win before being pulled early in the nightcap blowout loss.
- Optimally, the best possible score could have been found in the doubleheader. Cincinnati's TJ Friedl had two of the same hits in each of the two games. He had two home runs in Game 1 and two singles in Game 2 to finish on 10 total bases.
