- It was a hot corner kind of night in the Challenge as half of the field's selections were third basemen.
- Two of those felt very cold though as both Colorado's Ryan McMahon (Colin) and Milwaukee's Luis Urias (Nate) blanked as their clubs were blown out.
- Eugenio Suarez became the second Seattle Mariners player picked out for the season. Like Ty France, Suarez provided some extra bases on the way out getting Ed a double in Seattle's loss to the Nationals.
- Matt got a single and a double from Pittsburgh's Ke'Bryan Hayes to account for 33% of his team's hits against the Braves. However, as you can see none of those hits read "home run" which means Matt's Home Run Hero chip for August went tits up.
- The final third baseman selected was Tampa Bay's Yandy Diaz. Scott's selection suffered a similar fate to the other Rays player taken on the night and fellow -Andy, Randy Arozarena. Both Diaz and Buddy's pick Arozarena had two total bases (Diaz via two singles, Arozarena via a double) before being lifted late in their extra innings win over the Angels.
- While Tampa won their fifth in a row, Boston lost their third on the trot to fall seven games behind the second Wild Card despite two singles from Pavli's pick Alex Verdugo.
- Texas quadrupled up the Rockies at Coors Field 16-4. Al's pick Adolis Garcia was one of eight different Rockies to drive in a run in the contest with his two singles.
- Now to our home run hitters on the evening with Lenny's pick Julio Rodriguez. The AL Rookie of the Year candidate provided all the offense in Seattle's aforementioned loss to Washington with a solo home run.
- But doing J-Rod one single better was our night's top scorer Christian Walker. Ryan's pick ate himself some cycle bread in Arizona's loss to the Royals including his 30th home run of the season. It is his fourth top score of the campaign which ties him with Ty France and Paul Goldschmidt for the most in the 2022 Challenge.
- Optimally, only Matt could have taken Cleveland's Jose Ramirez and his nine total bases. He drove in three of the Guardians' seven runs against San Diego with a pair of solo home runs and a single (yet the third RBI came from a sac fly).
