- The proverbial benches of teams not heading to the playoffs continue to be emptied in the Pick One Challenge.
- Baltimore (5.5 games back) is the closest to sneaking into the postseason. However, they are going to need to beat teams like the Red Sox to do so which means blanks for the likes of Ryan Mountcastle (Al) aren't going to be very much help.
- We had our fourth picked out player of the month, Chicago's Ian Happ. The Cubs had 12 hits against San Francisco on Sunday Night Baseball, but sadly none of them came from Nate's All-Star selection.
- One did come from Last Man In David Bote though. After his initial selection Joc Pederson didn't play, Ed found himself assigned the Cubs' nine hole hitter who singled in the third inning.
- Chicago was represented on both sides of town on this day with Colin's pick AJ Pollock. He would also net just one single as the White Sox suffered a defeat as well to the A's.
- Miami was the only team to have two manual selections on the day. Garrett Cooper (Matt) and Jon Berti (Pavli) both singled as they closed out their series with the Mets with another loss.
- 40% of the Tigers' total bases against Kansas City came from one swing of the bat of Spencer Torkelson. Buddy got a double from the former #1 pick in Detroit's shutout loss.
- It wasn't all losing efforts though in the Challenge for the day though. Both Stone Garrett (Scott) and Evan Longoria (Lenny) each saw their clubs win as the Diamondbacks and Giants were both victorious. Garrett would single in Arizona's 12-6 win while Longoria did that twice in San Francisco's aforementioned Sunday Night Baseball triumph.
- Torkelson wasn't the only former #1 pick taken on this day. Ryan found himself with the top score via Los Angeles' Mickey Moniak. The former Phillies prospect left the bread of the cycle sandwich untouched with a double and triple against the Astros.
- Optimally, only Lenny and Nate could have earned themselves 10 total bases from Milwaukee's Rowdy Tellez. He got his double digits the most economic way possible with a double and two home runs as the Brewers saw off the Reds.
