- If you aren't a fan of ninth place hitters for the Kansas City Royals, this probably isn't the recap for you.
- With that being said, SIX, count 'em, six participants on the day found themselves assigned the services of Royals second baseman Nicky Lopez. Three (Joseph, Matt, & Ryan) had the four-year vet through the Last Man In by way of just not making a selection. Three more (Al, Lenny, & Nate) joined the party after the postponement of Cincinnati and Cleveland. All in all it could have gone a lot worse because at least Lopez was able to scratch out a single in four plate appearances.
- The same could not be said for the two San Francisco Giants taken on the day. Darin Ruf (Pavli) and Evan Longoria (Scott) combined to go 0-for-7 with 4 strikeouts in San Fran's loss to the Rockies.
- I don't know if it was hubris or ignorance but Colin completed the much talked about but little cared about NL Central mini-tour with his selection of Pittsburgh's Michael Chavis. In doing so, he earned himself the day's silver medal as the third baseman singled thrice and knocked in the Pirates' first run of the afternoon against Chicago.
- But avoiding all the pitfalls and bringing home his fifth top score in seven days was Buddy via the Mets' Pete Alonso. The Polar Bear feasted on cycle bread against the Cardinals with the home run portion of the meal coming as part of a five-run eighth inning that put the game out of reach for the visitors.
- Optimally, either Los Angeles' Jared Walsh or Tampa Bay's Isaac Paredes would have been your best bets with a pair of home runs apiece.
