- Whether it be by assignment or by choice, half of the field went with a player from Sunday Night Baseball's Little League Classic between the Red Sox and Orioles.
- The only blank from the day came from our second-step Last Man In assignment Rougned Odor. Matt was ineligible for the first step player from Baltimore, but it is fitting that on a night focused around the youth game that the one man who blanked had a last name 12 year olds would readily chuckle at.
- That first step LMI was Baltimore's Jorge Mateo. Lenny and Nate were assigned the game's hero as Mateo's second hit of the night, a three-RBI double, put the O's ahead for good and gave the duo a well-earned three total bases.
- Our other Oriole selected was Adley Rutschman. Ed broke a four day run of hitless efforts via the Baltimore catcher singling in the first inning.
- Boston's only representation on the night was Buddy's pick JD Martinez. After his original selection didn't play, our game leader pivoted to the Sox DH who would double in the fourth inning and unfortunately be stranded there. However, that double was enough to push Buddy to the 300 total base threshold for the season.
- Two Giants players were taken in their extra innings win over the Rockies. Both Brandon Crawford (Al) and Thairo Estrada (Pavli) singled and drove in a run in the 9-8 affair.
- A pair of triples were had on the day as well. Jonathan India (Scott) did so in Cincinnati's win over the Pirates while Travis d'Arnaud (Ryan) did not see his three-bagger translate to victory for the Braves.
- But turning back the clock to 2019 was Colin's pick and top scorer Keston Hiura. The beleaguered Brewers slugger homered twice in his club's much-needed win over the Cubs to net Colin eight total bases and keep Milwaukee within a game of the NL's final Wild Card spot.
- Optimally, it feels odd that a day after their doubleheader both the Phillies and the Mets had a player tie for the best possible score in just a single game. Philadelphia's Alec Bohm and New York's Mark Canha each singled once and homered twice for nine total bases in the 10-9, 30 total hit slugfest ultimately won by the division-leading Mets.
