- With two teams destined to miss the playoffs going at it in a doubleheader, it is no surprise that 80% of the field went with either a Reds or Pirates player on the day.
- The duo that went against that grain had a connection in their own right though. Both Ryan and Al went with shortstops from bitter rivals San Francisco and Los Angeles. And while Al may feel like he sold his soul slightly going with the Dodger instead of his beloved Giant, his selection Trea Turner would double against the Cubs while Brandon Crawford would net just a single against the Padres.
- A first taste of blankness was on the menu for Ed. Jack Suwinski was the barrier between an all hits day after the Pirates rookie went 0-for-7 in their split with the Reds, leaving seven teammates on the basepaths.
- Representing the left side of the Pittsburgh infield was Colin and Matt's selections, Ke'Bryan Hayes and Oneil Cruz. Each man would only start one game of the doubleheader (Hayes would pinch hit in Game 2) grabbing a single apiece.
- On the right side was Lenny's pick Michael Chavis. He played both halves of the twin bill yet his production came from a double in the Game 1 win before a forgettable 3 K Game 2 blank that resulted in a loss.
- Taking home the daily silver medal was Scott with Cincinnati's Tommy Pham. The leading hit getter for the day in terms of volume, unfortunately for Pham all three of his hits over the two games were singles.
- That leaves a three way tie at the top with two different players. Buddy and Pavli stayed perched higher atop the standings after four total bases (one single, one triple) from Brandon Drury while Nate got four very needed total bases from Mike Moustakas who doubled in each game against the Pirates.
- Optimally, current and former Boston stars aligned to each earn eight total bases. Mookie Betts and Rafael Devers both homered twice on the night but only Betts' Dodgers could produce a victory from those launches.
