- Three overall Pick One debuts were handed out on the day. Two of them went as poorly as they could with blanks in play for Tampa Bay's Jonathan Aranda (Nate) and Oakland's Jordan Diaz (Ryan). Scott's pick Mark Mathias at least singled before being pinch hit for in Texas' extra innings loss to the Mariners.
- Our final blank was yesterday's optimal scorer. Miami's Bryan De La Cruz could not produce a repeat performance for Buddy making it a chase day in the Challenge with an 0-for-3, 2 K outing against the Brewers.
- The biggest beneficiaries of that blank were Pavli and Ed, our current second and fourth place players. They got a single and a double from Boston's Triston Casas to inch closer to the top of the leaderboard.
- Al matched the duo on three total bases with his coming from Tampa Bay's Wander Franco. Franco's Rays may have been bested by the on-fire Guardians, but his single and double kept Al firmly in third place overall.
- San Francisco hasn't said their final goodbye to the playoff hunt just yet, but we did say goodbye to Joc Pederson in the Pick One. Lenny made the final selection of the Giants' All-Star at least mildly pleasant with a single in a win over Colorado.
- Right ahead of those Giants in the fight for that final spot in the National League postseason is the Brewers. Only Ed has Willy Adames left at his disposal after the Brewers shortstop singled for Matt in a losing effort against Miami.
- But for the first time in what feels like forever, the Last Man In found his way to the penultimate part of the recap. San Francisco's Ford Proctor didn't help out Matt or Nate the day prior, but hit a home run for Colin against the Rockies to net four total bases and the daily crown.
- Optimally, all of the day's best scores came from Texas/Seattle. Only Matt could have went with the Rangers' Marcus Semien but plenty had either of Seattle's Jarred Kelenic or Mitch Haniger as an option. All three men hit two home runs in the 10-9 eleven inning Texas win to finish with eight total bases.
