- There was much joy in the air for the Pick One Challenge...unless you picked a Yankees player.
- Yes, all three of the blanks for the day's selections came from New York as they were swept in a doubleheader by the White Sox. Giancarlo Stanton (Colin), DJ LeMahieu (Nate), and the fresh off the "Jackie" controversy Josh Donaldson (Matt) combined for two walks over the two games but not a single hit.
- But before we get back to that twin bill, let's go over the four participants that left the doubleheader reservation. There was a singles camp and a two singles camp. This sounds like a bad reality show I am aware.
- With just a solitary hit apiece, Rowdy Tellez (Buddy) and Last Man In Andrew Velazquez (Ryan) represented the top and bottom of the Pick One table.
- Pavli was able to gain ground on Buddy with an extra single from Tampa Bay's Randy Arozarena while Scott was able to reach the nicest score in the game with a pair of base knocks from Pittsburgh's Michael Chavis.
- Now we reach the Chicago portion of the recap. Luis Robert is a man of consistency as Lenny learned on the day. It may not be the greatest consistency as that steady level in six of his eight lifetime selections is just one single, but consistency nonetheless.
- It is now three straight days with four total bases for Al, all via a different way. After Dansby Swanson's home run and Jeff McNeil's two doubles, Jose Abreu got to the magic number with a pair of singles and a double in his club's two game trampling of the Yankees.
- But while he technically played in both games, Joseph's pick AJ Pollock only needed one to take home the day's top score. Pollock had a cozy cycle bread lunch in Game 1 including a go-ahead ninth inning home run off of Aroldis Chapman. He was only a defensive replacement in Game 2.
- Optimally, Manny Machado was your man after going 4-for-4 with three doubles and a triple for nine total bases as the Padres blistered the Giants 10-1.
