- August went out with a whimper in the Pick One Challenge as we had six blanks and no score higher than two total bases.
- San Francisco's LaMonte Wade Jr. was the only man to take down two participants in one shot. The Giants first baseman blanked for both Al and Buddy in a loss to the Padres.
- Completing the chase day was a hitless effort from St. Louis' Tyler O'Neill for Pavli. He would walk twice in the Cardinals' 13 inning win over Cincinnati and score once but alas those numbers are meaningless in the Challenge.
- Our final Home Run Hero designation of the month was also a letdown. Cleveland's Steven Kwan didn't get the ball out of the infield for Ryan, never mind over the outfield wall, in a blanking effort against the Orioles.
- Last Man In Sergio Alcantara, Matt's third straight Diamondbacks player, could not replicate the production of fellow Arizona LMI Carson Kelly from the day prior. Alcantara, the unlucky 13th man to be selected from two clubs, struck out in two of his three at-bats as the D'Backs were blown out by the Phillies, 18-2.
- One can only imagine that Ed wanted to swing from the Shea Langeliers by handing the A's rookie his Pick One debut. However, he was unable to fly like a bird through the night as the DH blanked in a loss to the Nationals.
- Chicago kept their fleeting Wild Card hopes alive with a win over the Royals. In that one Lenny got a single from his selection Eloy Jimenez. Jimenez is now 5-for-5 in turning selections into points this season.
- One of those two aforementioned runs for Arizona against the Phillies came from Scott's pick Emmanuel Rivera. He came around to score a consolation run after his single in the bottom of the ninth.
- That leaves our joint top scorers who faced off with one another on the evening. Los Angeles' Taylor Ward and New York's Josh Donaldson each got two total bases for Colin and Nate respectively. Ward did so with a pair of singles while Donaldson doubled.
- Optimally, Boston's Xander Bogaerts was the only eligible six total baser (one double, one home run) on the night. Nolan Arenado was already picked out so he couldn't join the X-Man in the optimal score lounge.
