- No team seems to be heading into October with much in the way of momentum. The same seems to be the case in the Pick One Challenge as well.
- We had ourselves a chase day due to the fact that Buddy blanked via Baltimore's Gunnar Henderson. The Orioles rookie sensation struck out twice in his club's rain-shortened loss to the Blue Jays.
- Unfortunately the only column Al saw his pick put non-zeros in on the day were "Grounded Into Double Plays" and "Men Left On Base". Chicago's Christopher Morel put a 1 and a 2 in those in a Cubs loss to the Reds.
- Colin's 16th different Red Sox player taken this year was not a sweet one. Abraham Almonte struck out three times before being subbed off in a defensive switch, but his Sox beat the Rays.
- Playoff bound outfielders Harold Ramirez (Lenny) and Jarred Kelenic (Nate) both found themselves hitless as their Rays and Mariners both lost 4-3 to the Red Sox and Tigers respectively.
- Rounding out the negative part of this recap was Matt's pick Gavin Sheets. The White Sox only needed five hits to beat the Twins on the day manager Tony LaRussa announced this season would be his last, but none of those came from the right fielder.
- Our first picked out player of October made Ed wait until extra innings before providing production. Milwaukee's Willy Adames drove in the tying run against Arizona with a 10th inning single before Hunter Renfroe kept the Brewers' ever-so-slim playoff hopes alive with the game-winner right after.
- The rainout between the Mets and Nationals forced Pavli to pivot to an unlikely source of hits. That man was LA's Livan Soto who singled twice and scored in a loss to the A's.
- In that same game, Ryan made his potentially final Oakland pick of the season with the recently claimed Ernie Clement. The former Guardian would double in victory, yet was pinch hit for in the 10th by the producer of the game's winning run, Tony Kemp.
- But our top scorer of the day was for the second time in five days the Last Man In. The Dodgers' Trayce Thompson fed Scott some cycle bread for five total bases. His solo shot was the only run in LA's 2-1 loss to Colorado.
- Optimally, Tampa Bay's Wander Franco came a double shy of the cycle in defeat to Boston. His eight total bases tied for his highest output of the season which was also against the Red Sox.
