- For the first time since May 12th, there is a new leader in the MLB Pick One Challenge.
- Helping this change of the guard along was the fact that Buddy blanked with Julio Rodriguez. On the same day it was announced generational money was coming into his life the All-Star blanked with 3 K's against the Guardians. His club still won though to maintain their spot as the AL's final Wild Card.
- One of the other two blanks came from that team right behind Seattle in the Wild Card standings. Baltimore's Adley Rutschman could only muster a walk for Ryan as the Orioles upset Lance McCullers Jr. and the Astros in Houston.
- The final hitless effort of the day stayed in the beltway area with Al's pick Lane Thomas. Top prospect Cade Cavalli's debut for the Nationals against Cincinnati didn't go as planned and Thomas' blank didn't help stop the bleeding.
- Singles squad was manned on the night by New York's Andrew Benintendi (Nate) and Seattle's JP Crawford (Matt). Crawford only had one official at-bat with a walk, sacrifice bunt, and sacrifice fly on his resume versus Cleveland.
- Doubles enjoyers for the day were both from NL West sides, Arizona's Josh Rojas (Ed) and LA's Will Smith (Scott). Rojas' was a bases clearing two-bagger that made Johnny Cueto's evening a bit unpleasant while Smith's was one of four doubles by the Dodgers against the Marlins.
- Kiké did indeed love Colin. Enrique Hernandez, one of last postseason's standout selections in the Pick One, made his 2022 debut with a throuple of singles as the Red Sox held on to defeat the Rays.
- Another Pick One debut was made by Lenny's pick Oswaldo Cabrera. The Yankees rookie had two singles and a triple as the Bronx Bombers did enough to best the A's. We won't talk about Cabrera getting picked off of first base.
- But our new overall game leader is Pavli after selecting our optimal scorer of the evening, Mookie Betts. He was Captain Clutch for the Dodgers three times against Miami. He homered to take the lead in the seventh. Betts would go yard again in the ninth to tie things up. The final piece of his puzzle (oh yeah, there was an earlier single as well) was a tenth inning double to put his club up for good and end the proceedings on 11 total bases.
