- There were three doubleheaders on the day yet somehow those who went that route completed steered away from the one with all of the offense.
- Four participants didn't take the twin bill bait with minimal returns. The best of the lot was the duo of Joseph and Ryan getting a single from Oakland's Cristian Pache as the evening's Last Man In.
- For the second time in three days we had a selection leave a game early due to being hit by a pitch. Unluckily for Matt, Miami's Bryan De La Cruz only had one at-bat before being removed which was a weak groundout.
- Nate's streak of twos turned into a big pile of number two thanks to Cincinnati's Colin Moran. The Reds were able to come back and win in extras against in-state rivals Cleveland but the only two in Moran's box score was in the strikeout column.
- Six total runs came across the plate in the split between Kansas City and Chicago. One of the ones in Game 1 was scored by Tim Anderson, but he didn't get a hit to get on base which more than likely frustrated Al. That frustration was amplified by the fact that the AL's fifth-leading hitter didn't even get a pinch hit cameo in Game 2.
- Luis Robert saw his 14 game hitting streak in Game 1, but was able to start a new one in Game 2 with a single for both Pavli and Scott.
- Another Home Run Hero chip was left untriggered by a Cardinals slugger. Nolan Arenado made St. Louis the first team to have two different blanks on the provision with Lenny feeling the pain on this day. The Gold Glover blanked in Game 1 before being relegated to pinch hit duty in the second contest to no avail as well.
- Pittsburgh would have completed Colin's week long Pick One tour around the NL Central. Alas, he stayed in the division but went back to the team that he saw success with in the Cardinals. Harrison Bader only had a single in the doubleheader against the Mets, but that is one more hit than any Cub, Red, or Brewer gave him.
- This game has some funny connectivity on occasion and that last blurb blends in well with our top scorer. Because after two days of poverty from the team Colin avoided (Pittsburgh) the man who put Buddy back in the winner's circle was that man who did the same for Colin two days ago, Paul Goldschmidt. He added a single to his "customary" pair of doubles and a home run for nine total bases in the Cardinals' split with the Mets.
- Optimally, half of the field could have had 11 total bases from Aaron Judge as the Chief Justice of the Short Porch came up a triple shy of the cycle with a pair of home runs in New York's win over the Orioles.
