- It was all about pairs on this day in the Pick One Challenge, even if one of them (and it will be very obvious which) was a bit forced.
- Parallel thinking proved a poor strategy as both doubled up selections, Texas' Adolis Garcia and Chicago's Willson Contreras, blanked ruthlessly for Matt & Scott (Garcia) and Al & Colin (Contreras).
- Two participants utilized the Last Man In provision but were on different steps. Having not used it prior, Nate had first step Austin Barnes who would rake three hits for four total bases. Having already LMI'ed Barnes on April 30th, Ryan was assigned Gavin Lux who unfortunately did not rake a damn thing.
- Sporting the same career line drive percentage of 25%, Tyler Naquin (Lenny) and Salvador Perez (Pavli) each had a couple of them to finish with 5 and 3 total bases respectively in a pair of wins.
- But the best pair came from the top two scorers of the afternoon. Josh Donaldson was one of two Yankees taken that played Home Run Derby against Vince Velasquez and the White Sox. The Bringer of Rain also brought a double to the table to earn Joseph 6 total bases.
- However, utilizing both his Break Glass List and his Home Run Hero allowed Buddy's pick Giancarlo Stanton to usurp Donaldson for the top score of the day. His double-valued home run along with single in the merry-go-round ninth inning gave him a score of 9 for his efforts.
- Optimally, without the Home Run Hero chip in play the best you could have done was the pair of opponents Brendan Rodgers and Andrew Benintendi who each made it to 8 total bases with three hits, Rodgers adding a couple of doubles to his homer while Benintendi skipped doubles altogether falling that classification of hit away from the cycle.
