- Philadelphia completed a scintillating comeback in Game 1 to defeat the Astros in extra innings 6-5.
- While the Phillies won on the the field, they were far from victorious in the Pick One Challenge. Ryan made the only Phillies selection for the day, using his Home Run Hero chip for October on Bryson Stott. His reward was equal parts walks and strikeouts, but no hits.
- Buddy and Matt joined him in the scoreless department for Game 1 thanks to Trey Mancini. The 24th two-club man for 2022 struck out twice in four at-bats before being pinch hit for in infamous fashion by Aledmys Diaz.
- Two other players were double selected in Game 1, Chas McCormick and Martin Maldonado. The bottom of the Houston order came through as much as they could for their backers with a single each for Nate & Pavli from Maldonado and for Ed & Scott with McCormick.
- Jose Altuve's postseason woes were well-documented before snapping out of it at the end of the ALCS. In Game 1 he snapped a personal drought in the Challenge as well netting Al a single, his first Pick One hit since July.
- But our top scorers for the night had two total bases apiece for the Astros. Alex Bregman (Colin) would double for his while Yulieski Gurriel (Lenny) would single twice for his. This is the third top score for Gurriel in the postseason.
- Optimally, only Scott could have selected Kyle Tucker and his nine total bases in Game 1. The All-Star would homer in back-to-back innings off of Philadelphia's Aaron Nola and added an eighth inning single.
