- Unless you could hear the not-so-faint sound of a trumpet, this day probably wasn't your finest.
- After Al tried to ride Yoan Moncada's momentum unsuccessfully the day prior, Colin and Scott tried to do the same with Colorado's Elias Diaz. They were met with similar results as the Rockies catcher blanked a day after having double-digit total bases against Arizona.
- Ryan's magical Ohio baseball tour came to a disappointing close with Cincinnati's TJ Friedl. The Reds leadoff man did knock in his team's lone run against Milwaukee with a sacrifice fly, but had no hits in three official at-bats.
- Only eight innings were played before Mother Nature put an end to Tigers/Royals. An extra inning probably wouldn't have done Al's pick Jeimer Candelario any good though as the Tigers third baseman blanked as the second to last out of the eighth.
- Boston's Tommy Pham didn't have much of an opportunity to get in on the fun of his team's 17-4 win over the Orioles. Pavli's pick walked and scored in the first, was hit by a pitch in the second, and flied out in the fourth before being pulled as an injury precaution.
- To be fair, the Sox player that did score in the Challenge amidst all the Sox scoring only had one total base. Xander Bogaerts was the only Boston starter not named Tommy Pham to not get multiple hits. His fourth inning single was all Lenny and Matt got from the 21 hit salute put forth by the Beantowners.
- Rafael Ortega was a late season magician last year in the Pick One. This season the Cubs DH has been significantly less enchanted, but still was able to break Buddy's mini-rut with a single against the Giants.
- Earning an unlikely daily silver medal was Ed's pick Seth Brown. The A's stalwart continued his season-long streak of no blanks with a pair of singles in Oakland's loss to the White Sox.
- But our top scorer of the day was Mets slugger Eduardo Escobar. Nate has now put substantial distance between himself and the financial relegation zone (20 total bases) after Escobar fell a triple shy of the cycle to finish on seven total bases. He was one of two Mets with seven and there were several more scattered throughout the Bigs.
- However, only two men got to eight total bases on the night and they were in opposing dugouts on the West Coast. Manny Machado got his eight for the defeated Padres with two home runs. Freddie Freeman got his for the victorious Dodgers with two singles, a double, and a homer.
