- Stretches of good fortune came to an end on what proved to be a valuable chase day in the Challenge.
- Kansas City has been a hard team to watch this season so naturally Buddy decided to go at the AL Central's basement residents with Houston's Jeremy Pena. Not only did Pena blank in defeat, he struck out three times to the soft-tossing Royals rotation accounting for half of his club's K's on the day.
- Registering a trio of strikeouts himself was Colin's pick Joc Pederson. Colin saw his ten day run of hits come to a close with Pederson's 0-for-4 day against Arizona.
- Nate's singles streak also ended after Marcus Semien could not nick a hit against Baltimore. He only struck out once though so that's something I guess.
- Seth Brown was the lone double-selected player on the day with both Pavli and Scott earning a single from the Athletics first baseman in a loss to the Blue Jays.
- Joining Brown on one total base for the afternoon was Matt's pick Vinnie Pasquantino. It's been a rough go of it for the Kansas City rookie since his June 28th call-up but a single that raises your batting average and a win against a division leader ain't a bad day's work.
- The two total base tent also had three players underneath it. Al and Ryan got doubles from Arizona's Josh Rojas and Boston's Trevor Story respectively while Ed got a pair of singles from Cincinnati's Brandon Drury.
- But our top scorer of the day was Lenny with New York's Brandon Nimmo. He scored on both of his singles during the regulation innings before emphatically putting the Reds away in extras with a three run shot putting him on a total of six total bases.
- Optimally, Kyle Schwarber continues to hit home runs in bunches and did so once again versus Nationals. Granted his two home runs were solo shots and the Phillies were bested, but those two blasts plus a single put him on the highest score pedestal of nine total bases.
