- We once again had our running shoes on for a second consecutive chase day in the Pick One Challenge.
- For just the third time in two months, Buddy made it back-to-back blanks as Baltimore's Anthony Santander could not make a deposit of any hits.
- Freddie Freeman scored twice in LA's 9-4 win over Washington but that did Pavli no good as none of those times on the basepaths came via a base hit.
- After being part of the home run quartet yesterday, Scott and Colin could not repeat on this day. Each man went with a player from a 1998 Expansion team who would leave three men on base. Colin went with Tampa Bay's Isaac Paredes while Scott tripped up with Colin's pick from the day prior, Arizona's Christian Walker.
- But those three stranded runners was child's play compared to Lenny's pick Seiya Suzuki. The NL Rookie of the Year contender left nine Cubs on base and was one of two starters that couldn't pick up any of Chicago's 15 hits in their rout of the Reds. (Editor's Note: The other was Ian Happ who torpedoed my Beat the Streak entry. Thanks for letting me vent.)
- There was no long drive to...oh wait, I've used this played out joke before. Nevertheless, Nick Castellanos got a single for Ryan which always helps when the two folks directly in front of you blank.
- Nate became the biggest Twins selector (4x) thus far after a pair of singles from Luis Arraez helped stop a two-day blank run.
- A little local lesson came with Matt's pick Jeremy Pena. The only MLB player ever drafted from Classical HS in Providence hit two singles in Houston's win over Cleveland.
- Twenty-five runs came across the plate in a wild west shootout between the Mets and Giants. The most hits from a selected player on the day came from Joseph's pick Jeff McNeil who had 3 of the Mets' 18 hits in defeat, two singles and a double.
- However, our top scorer only needed two hits to get to the top. Daulton Varsho, a man whose reliability in this Challenge has already been documented, hit a double and a home run in Arizona's win over Kansas City to push Al to the precipice of the 100 total bases mark for the year.
- Optimally, Joc Pederson was the star of the fireworks display at Oracle Park. He homered three times, including a game-tying three run shot in the bottom of the eighth. His single on the night would tie the game again in the bottom of the ninth before Brandon Crawford would win in the next at-bat. The two-time World Series champion finished with 13 total base and 8 RBI.
