- There were two prevailing storylines in the Pick One Challenge for the day. The first was the battle of the league's leakiest pitching staffs between Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. The second was the resumption of the suspended game between the Astros and Twins and subsequent pseudo-doubleheader.
- Two participants strayed away from those two paths. Joseph made a very savvy choice in St. Louis' hot-hitting rookie Juan Yepez, but alas his seven-game hitting streak to begin his MLB career came to an end against the Orioles.
- Ryan broke his own streak in an opposite way as his seven day streak without an extra-base hit came to an end with a three total base day from Jean Segura in a win over the Dodgers. That double was one of the six extra-base hits raked off of Los Angeles starter Tyler Anderson.
- We aren't ready to say Cincinnati is righting the ship just yet, but a shutout against the Pirates is one way to start fixing the course. However, I'm sure the duo of Colin and Scott were hoping that shutout pixie dust didn't float over into friendly fire territory as Reds third baseman Brandon Drury blanked against Pittsburgh.
- Things went much better for the other pair of Reds backers with Tyler Stephenson. On any other day, Al and Lenny probably could have expected to be in the conversation for top score with a couple of singles and a home run from the Reds backstop.
- Houston was already up 5-1 on the Twins when they called the game the night before. They poured it on upon the re-start with a flurry of doubles in the sixth inning including one off the bat of Nate's pick Jose Altuve. Nevertheless, that two-bagger would be all that Nate would get from the game and a half as Altuve would blank in the second game.
- Kyle Tucker added a home run to his requisite double in that six-run sixth. He got his second double of the day in the second game and would come around to score netting Pavli a total of eight total bases to widen the gap between the top three and the rest of the field.
- Like Altuve, Matt's pick Alex Bregman would also blank in the second game. But his "garbage time" single paired with his, and you guessed it, sixth inning double in the resumed game gave him three total bases for his troubles.
- But the top score went to the man who saved all of his extra-base hits for the second game, Yordan Alvarez. Buddy had to be bummed to see Alvarez flounder in a couple of big spots in Game One only to see the slugger erupt for a double and two home runs in the second start for 11 total bases on the day. The best score you could have received across the league pushed Buddy back into first place for the first time since relinquishing the top spot in the standings on April 20th.
