SCOTT SERVIDIO- 86.8 TOTAL SCORE DAILY SELECTIONS: Luka Modric, CRO (7.1) / Kai Havertz, GER (6.6) / Carlos Soler, ESP (7.3) / Kevin De Bruyne, BEL (7.5) After dropping down one spot for a day, Scott was back in first with the most consistent day across the board. Luka Modric was his usual steady self in Croatia's draw with Morocco. Havertz was the lone dip under 7.0 but with a couple of decent breaks could have had himself a goal. Carlos Soler scored off the bench in La Furia Roja's rout making Legoland the luckiest place on Earth. Soler was a part of a Spain/Costa Rica match that was the first to have six unique selections. Wrapping things up was Kevin De Bruyne who seemingly can pull a 7.2+ in his sleep.
TREVOR UTLEY- 85.2 TOTAL SCORE DAILY SELECTIONS: Marcelo Brozovic, CRO (7.0) / Joshua Kimmich, GER (7.8) / Pedri, ESP (7.9) / Eden Hazard, BEL (6.8) Brozovic paired well with Modric in the midfield and took a slight hit by not providing the chances his elder statesman teammate did. Kimmich and penalty scorer Ilkay Gundogan were probably the only Germans who played well for the entirety of their time on the pitch in the shock loss to Japan. Pedri somehow did not directly contribute to any of Spain's seven goals against the Ticos, but showed how he could boss a midfield by himself against lesser competition. Eden Hazard at least looked semi-capable for Belgium even if he got lost in the shuffle on several occasions.
LENNY MALAGRINO- 84.8 TOTAL SCORE DAILY SELECTIONS: Marko Livaja, CRO (6.6) / Joshua Kimmich, GER (7.8) / Ferran Torres, ESP (7.7) / Michy Batshuayi, BEL (7.4) Lenny had to feel like it was going to be another dreary day after his first pick Marko Livaja was relegated to substitute duty in Croatia's 0-0 draw in the wee hours of the morning. But from there is was actually nothing but sunshine as he was the only participant to surpass 7.0 with his selections in each of the final three matches. Ferran Torres scored two of Spain's seven against Costa Rica while Michy Batshuayi got Belgium's lone effort versus Canada.
ROBERT ALLEN- 83.8 TOTAL SCORE DAILY SELECTIONS: Andrej Kramaric, CRO (6.3) / Joshua Kimmich, GER (7.8) / Gavi, ESP (7.5) / Alphonso Davies, CAN (6.4) Disappointment bread was on the menu for Robert on the fourth day of the World Cup. Croatia's Andrej Kramaric didn't register a single shot as his nation's #9. Alphonso Davies had a penalty saved and was shown a late yellow card as the only Canadian selection for the day. Gavi scored Spain's fifth goal against Costa Rica and was the only Spanish outfield selection to go the full 90 minutes.
MARTIN DUNNING- 83.6 TOTAL SCORE DAILY SELECTIONS: Luka Modric, CRO (7.1) / Thomas Muller, GER (7.1) / Keylor Navas, CRC (4.2) / Eden Hazard, BEL (6.8) Talk about having the rug pulled out from under you. Dropping from first to fifth was Martin after taking a risk that absolutely blew up in his face. Parallel 7.1's from Champions League legends Modric and Muller were for nothing on the day as the lone Costa Rican selection, goalkeeper Keylor Navas, saw seven hit the back of his net. It is the lowest score of any Pick One Challenge involving the beautiful game. I'm sure he didn't even bother to watch Belgium/Canada afterwards.
ANDREW SANFORD- 83.4 TOTAL SCORE DAILY SELECTIONS: Hakim Ziyech, MOR (6.8) / Kai Havertz, GER (6.6) / Unai Simon, ESP (6.9) / Alphonso Davies, CAN (6.4) Our only participant to not break 7.0 at all for the day now finds himself in the financial relegation zone. Hakim Ziyech was the lone Moroccan selection in the early game, yet couldn't find that final pass. Unai Simon did keep a clean sheet against Costa Rica, but that is fairly easy when the opposition does not have a single shot. Davies' miss hit even more for Andrew in particular as it would have put his goals bet over the top. Blame Canada.
