SCOTT SERVIDIO- 307.8 TOTAL SCORE DAILY SELECTIONS: Bruno Petkovic, CRO (6.8) / Zakaria Aboukhlal, MOR (6.5) / Dani Olmo, ESP (6.5) / Serge Gnabry, GER (8.4) The day didn't start off optimally for Scott as he had to use second half substitutes for both Croatia/Belgium and Morocco/Canada. Croatia's Bruno Petkovic at least cleared the standard while Morocco's Zakaria Aboukhlal met it. Dani Olmo didn't have his shooting boots on in a loss to Japan which was particularly troublesome as the only member of Spain's front three to play the entire game. But all of that dross was washed away by a goal and an assist from Serge Gnabry, a beautiful parting gift if there ever was one.
TREVOR UTLEY- 307.5 TOTAL SCORE DAILY SELECTIONS: Kevin De Bruyne, BEL (7.5) / Achraf Hakimi, MOR (7.5) / Gavi, ESP (6.9) / Leroy Sane, GER (7.0) When you can keep the gap under one ratings point, anything can happen. Gnabry's brilliance kept Trevor from claiming the top spot as his German selection, Leroy Sane, could not pair a goal with his assist. Kevin De Bruyne and Achraf Hakimi had matching scores in the early kickoffs but that was not even close to indicative of how each of those two matches went. De Bruyne put several chances on a plate for Belgium just to have that plate dropped and shattered. Hakimi on the other hand was crucial to Morocco's attack and defense as they won Group F. Gavi's involvement in Spain's loss was enough to get him to a meme rating but not much else of note.
ROBERT ALLEN- 306.0 TOTAL SCORE DAILY SELECTIONS: Dries Mertens, BEL (6.6) / Hakim Ziyech, MOR (7.5) / Alvaro Morata, ESP (7.5) / Antonio Rudiger, GER (6.3) When picking a player from a team that advanced to the Round of 16, Robert did great. When doing so for a player whose nation exited at the end of the group stage, it had a similar stink to it. Dries Mertens and Belgium as well as Antonio Rudiger and Germany can have a nice conversation about the similarity of their nation's flags on their flights home. Morocco's Hakim Ziyech and Spain's Alvaro Morata could potentially discuss their goals and their identical ratings as they prepare for the next round.
MARTIN DUNNING- 304.3 TOTAL SCORE DAILY SELECTIONS: Ivan Perisic, CRO (6.7) / Achraf Hakimi, MOR (7.5) / Dani Olmo, ESP (6.5) / Jamal Musiala, GER (7.6) Ivan Perisic had a similar game to Dani Olmo's in the regard that neither man was able to get a shot off that troubled a keeper or a cross to the head of a teammate in a dangerous area. Hakimi had an assist for his side, but Jamal Musiala had what could be referred to as the Kevin De Bruyne performance. Musiala didn't get a goal or an assist or see his side do particularly well with possession stats given their opponent. But Musiala hit every other nerdy metric hardy en route to Martin's best score of the day.
ANDREW SANFORD- 303.7 TOTAL SCORE DAILY SELECTIONS: Kevin De Bruyne, BEL (7.5) / Achraf Hakimi, MOR (7.5) / Dani Carvajal, ESP (6.7) / Lukas Klostermann, GER (6.5) Andrew was on his way to a hell of a rise in the standings before having to use subs in the second set of kickoffs. Like Trevor, he got parallel scores from De Bruyne and Hakimi. Dani Carvajal saw Japan score twice within five minutes of his introduction but seemingly did enough to keep himself out of the red for his half of work. Lukas Klostermann also saw two goals go into his net after he came on at halftime, but his teammates put three past Keylor Navas to save his blushes and keep him on the flat line rating.
LENNY MALAGRINO- 302.1 TOTAL SCORE DAILY SELECTIONS: Youri Tielemans, BEL (6.7) / Yahya Jabrane, MOR (6.3) / Marco Asensio, ESP (6.8) / Yeltsin Tejeda, CRC (7.3) For a roster makeup that is three-quarters substitutes, things could have been much worse for our current resident of the financial relegation zone. Lenny had to deal with a bit of meh and a bit of bleh from Belgium's Youri Tielemans and Morocco's Yahya Jabrane. Marco Asensio had one shot on target as Spain chased the game against Japan but if you look at his peripheral stats that shot probably wasn't of the highest quality. The lone bright spot came from an unlikely source in Costa Rica's Yeltsin Tejeda. Amidst the second half panic on either end of the pitch, Tejeda snuck one past Manuel Neuer to bring the only 7.0+ rated performance to Lenny's pack.
