- Liverpool is still winless for the 2022-23 campaign after a 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford to Manchester United.
- Of those who didn't fall into the Last Man In safety net, four of five went with Liverpool players.
- The Last Man In for the contest was Manchester United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The out-of-favor right back came on for the final stretch of the game and did nothing of note to keep the standard 6.5 for Matt and Pavli.
- Given United's track record from the first two matchdays of the season, Andrew picking Alisson didn't seem out of place. Instead his defense let him down time and time again and outside of palming away a Christian Eriksen free kick did little to help himself get above his final rating of 6.6.
- One of the members of Liverpool's sieve-like defense on the afternoon was Scott's pick Andy Robertson. Him and fellow fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold tried to do their normal business of getting forward but United's swift counter attacks left them in full sprints and gassed. Robbo had little left when he was subbed off in the 85th minute for Kostas Tsimikas.
- You'll have a bit of fourth wall breaking here because I (Trevor) have no discernible clue how Roberto Firmino ended up with a 7.0 rating for this match. His usual unselfishness was made worse by the fact that when one of his cheeky flicks and lobs did find a teammate there was zero end product. Maybe the aggregators know something I don't.
- Nevertheless, our top score for the day, unlike the match itself, was a draw. Mohamed Salah (Ryan) and David de Gea (Mike) each earned 7.4 ratings for their efforts. Salah headed home Liverpool's lone goal in the final 10 minutes of normal time but was relatively neutralized otherwise throughout the full 90. Given the blunders he had against Brighton and Brentford, Mike put his balls on the table picking de Gea and came out smelling like roses. Mixed metaphors aside, the Spanish keeper made save after save and presumably the only thing that pulled his rating down is that he could not complete a pass to anybody whether it be long balls out or passing out of the back (23%).
- Optimally, Jadon Sancho and his 7.6 were your best bet. He scored the first goal of the match amidst a slew of sliding Liverpool defenders and got Alisson to commit way too early before slotting home. He misplaced just three passes in his 71 minutes on the pitch.
