- The beginning of the final matchdays of the group stages didn't provide us with any big surprises yet still had intrigue.
- Switzerland showed that they had a bit more attack than people gave them credit for. Andrew's selection of Xherdan Shaqiri was phenomenal sitting right behind the two strikers getting two goals and completing 87% of his passes amidst a crowded Turkey midfield, including 4 of 5 on long balls. Scott's (and Trevor's) selection of Breel Embolo did a Freaky Friday with his selection from Matchday 2, Haris Seferovic, in which they weren't terrible but didn't score or contribute to the physical scoresheet.
- Turkey was the only team without a selection on the day and after they burned both Greg and Andrew on Day 1 of the group and how putrid they've been throughout, I'm not surprised.
- Italy and Wales was not nearly as wide open as the aforementioned game with neither side really interested in going forward after Italy's first half goal knowing that both teams were going through. The most troubling trend though is that Gareth Bale is back to his Premier League ways of sandwiching a world class performance with two pieces of moldy bread. Matt learned that the hard way with a 6.2 that now has him sitting dead last.
