- The bulk of the midweek fixture list took place on this day with only Liverpool/Newcastle not seeing at least one selection from its ranks.
- Matt tried to take a risky flyer with Nottingham Forest's Cheikhou Kouyate against Manchester City. It did not pay off as Kouyate was obliterated by City's attack and seeing six goals go in behind him left him on a 5.7 rating. Not what you want to see when you are trying to escape the financial relegation zone.
- A West Ham own goal being their only scoring is probably not what Spurs' fans were hoping to see either. In Tottenham's 1-1 draw with their London rivals, Trevor's pick Dejan Kulusevski had his second-lowest score of the season at 6.6. His lowest also came against a London club, Chelsea.
- Arsenal were able to claw out a victory over struggling Aston Villa by a margin of 2-1. Scott's pick Gabriel Jesus scored the first goal as part of an active first half an hour. Nevertheless, his next 58 minutes were rather lackluster and he was subbed out in the 88th minute on a 7.0 rating. Pavli's pick Martin Odegaard didn't directly contribute to either Gunners goal but his ball retention and his three key passes helped earn him a 7.3 rating, good enough for joint-second on the day and the overall lead.
- That daily silver medal was shared with Ryan's pick Chris Mepham. There was nowhere to go but up after Bournemouth's 9-0 shellacking at the hands of Liverpool where Mepham put in an own goal. Against Wolves he was resolute in defense (eight key tackles, clean sheet) and precise with his passing (94%) to end on a 7.3.
- But our top scorer of the day came from the other half of the pitch to Mepham, Wolverhampton's Ruben Neves. Now the fourth-highest rated player in England for the season to date, Neves earned Andrew and Mike a 7.6 rating with a stellar display in the middle of the park for his side completing 88% of his short passes, 65% of his long ones, and making six key tackles.
- Optimally, Manchester City's Erling Haaland ended his August in record-setting fashion with his third hat-trick of the Premier League's opening five weeks. He scored three times before he even had ten total touches for a 9.3 rating in his 69 (nice) minutes on the pitch.
