- The Swiss not being through to the semi-finals of this tournament is a testament to how Spain can regularly, and go watch some of their "golden years" games as well, play leagues below their opponent and still come out on top.
- It took a red card for the Spaniards to shift gears and even then Yann Sommer was there to rebuff all advances that didn't come off his own player's boot. Spain's entire front three was selected and their rating maxed out with Greg's pick of the much maligned Alvaro Morata at just 6.8.
- Mike made the lone selection of a Swiss player with Xherdan Shaqiri and got a goal for it. His 8.2 rating was only surpassed by the aforementioned Sommer and probably should have had a second if not for a key block from a scrambling Spain backline. He was subbed off in the 81st minute so he did not factor in the eventual penalty shootout which Switzerland had two really poorly taken spot kicks that were their undoing.
- In the other match, two of the three remaining favorites in the tournament did battle to see who would take on Spain on July 6th. Italy continued their attacking renaissance under Roberto Mancini although some of their old "tactics" cropped up over the course of these 90 minutes. However, none of those players were picked so let's focus on the one attacker who didn't play dead and actually scored, Matt's pick of Lorenzo Insigne. The Napoli winger paired up with Nicolo Barella for the Azzurri's second goal of the first half that ended up being the deciding tally. He completed 89% of his passes including 55% of his long ones and had top score with a 8.6 rating.
- Kevin De Bruyne, the Pick One's only two-time top scorer, won't get a chance for a third (Editor's Note: I can't pick my nose at these fucking tournaments any more) as he undeniably had his worst showing at Euro 2020 seeing the Red Devils unceremoniously exit in the quarter-finals. Nobody lost possession more than KDB. He committed more fouls than the entire Belgium backline and he only completed an uncharacteristic 59% of his passes. Yet still somehow he managed a 7.1 in the eyes of these aggregators. Let's call that a tournament achievement award and move on.
