- It was a dream start for the Italians in Euro 2020 competition as well as the three participants (Matt, Mike, Scott) who backed Ciro Immobile. The Azzurri striker earned the match's top rating of 8.7 with a stellar performance that saw him score Italy's second goal and complete 82% of his passes, with one of his final ones setting up Lorenzo Insigne's goal.
- The other Italian selected didn't do half bad himself. Trevor's selection of Jorginho completed 94% of his passes against Turkey and was key to Italy's transition offense with seven ball retrievals (interceptions/tackles).
- I wish I could be as upbeat about the Turkish players picked on the afternoon. Both Hakan Calhanoglu (Andrew) and Burak Yilmaz (Greg) struggled with their nation's lack of possession (37%). That lack of ball retention forced the duo into rash decisions which led to them losing the ball a combined 14 times and zero shots on target.
