SCOTT SERVIDIO- 113.0 TOTAL SCORE DAILY SELECTIONS: Breel Embolo, SUI (7.0) / Darwin Nunez, URU (6.3) / Cristiano Ronaldo, POR (6.7) / Neymar Jr., BRA (6.2) Our game leader went full strike force on the final matchday of the first series of the World Cup. He was the lone backer of Switzerland's goal scorer who exuded class by refusing to celebrate against his birth nation. Darwin Nunez and Neymar disappointed greatly from his South American selections with each being incredibly wasteful and petty with their minutes. Ronaldo became the first male player to score in 5 different World Cups from the penalty spot but to the surprise of nobody did next to nothing else but yell at his teammates.
ROBERT ALLEN- 112.4 TOTAL SCORE DAILY SELECTIONS: Xherdan Shaqiri, SUI (7.0) / Luis Suarez, URU (6.5) / Cristiano Ronaldo, POR (6.7) / Richarlison, BRA (8.4) Shaqiri assisted on Embolo's goal against Cameroon proving that no matter how out of form he is domestically once he puts on the Switzerland shirt he reverts to stardom. Luis Suarez tried to turn back the clock several times for Uruguay but more than once found himself holding on to the ball for that second too long. One would have thought that Ronaldo would have been the superior Portuguese-speaking selection but instead it was Richarlison who scored twice against Serbia including a possible Goal of the Tournament. His 8.4 is the highest score thus far by a selected player.
LENNY MALAGRINO- 111.9 TOTAL SCORE DAILY SELECTIONS: Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, CAM (6.8) / Guillermo Varela, URU (6.5) / Rafael Leao, POR (7.1) / Raphinha, BRA (6.7) EMCM was far and away the better Cameroonian striker selection made on the day even if the Bayern man couldn't find the back of the net. Varela made his way into Lenny's foursome via the Last Man In and adds a sneaky clean sheet tiebreaker as the scores start to tighten. Rafael Leao joins Jack Grealish as goal scorers off the bench for Lenny's selection pool. He has two of the three substitute goals in the Challenge. Raphinha was similarly wasteful to Neymar but at least he actually tried to stay on his feet most occasions rather than roll around like he just got hit by shrapnel.
TREVOR UTLEY- 111.5 TOTAL SCORE DAILY SELECTIONS: Karl Toko Ekambi, CAM (6.2) / Darwin Nunez, URU (6.3) / Joao Cancelo, POR (6.8) / Dusan Tadic, SRB (7.0) It took a yeoman's final fifteen minutes in a losing effort to keep Trevor from a day full of sub-7.0 ratings. It is damn near impossible to recollect one thing Karl Toko Ekambi did against Switzerland. At least Darwin Nunez had a couple of memorable misses and poor passes. Joao Cancelo saw his clean sheet and 7.2 rating shredded during Ghana's late rally which could have ended level had it not been for an untimely slip. As alluded to in the first sentence, Dusan Tadic not quitting on his Serbian side and making key tackles and blocking shots kept him from sinking to the level of his selection mates.
MARTIN DUNNING- 111.2 TOTAL SCORE DAILY SELECTIONS: Xherdan Shaqiri, SUI (7.0) / Diego Godin, URU (7.6) / Cristiano Ronaldo, POR (6.7) / Gabriel Martinelli, BRA (6.3) Things weren't looking half bad for Martin through three games. He got Shaqiri's assist. Correctly predicting a scoreless draw between Uruguay and South Korea netted him the second highest score of the day from the ageless Diego Godin. The goal from Ronaldo was what it was but keeping those tiebreaker totals up is never a bad thing. But then he just seemingly forgot that there was a fourth game on the day and had to rely on Last Man In Gabriel Martinelli for a Brazilian contingent that had so many tantalizing options otherwise.
ANDREW SANFORD- 111.0 TOTAL SCORE DAILY SELECTIONS: Moumi Ngalameu, CAM (6.4) / Rodrigo Bentancur, URU (7.3) / Joao Felix, POR (7.4) / Aleksandar Mitrovic, SRB (6.5) Andrew wasn't able to drag himself out of last place, but he didn't lose any ground. He had a rough start with the Last Man In for Cameroon Moumi Ngalameu. The meat of his day's sandwich was much better though as he had a stellar showing from his beloved Spur Rodrigo Bentancur and the final goal of the Portugal triad from Joao Felix. Aleksandar Mitrovic had a hell of a time getting service against A Selecao, but was industrious enough to keep himself on the standard score.
