- The meat of the weekend's Premier League fixtures came on this day with six matches to choose from. However, only four teams saw usage over three of those matches.
- Trevor was the man on an island by himself with Aston Villa's Leon Bailey. He felt even more stranded as he saw the Jamaican struggle mightily in his side's unequivocal defeat at the hands of promoted Bournemouth to the tune of a 6.8 rating.
- Struggling was also an adjective that could be used for both Everton selections. Everton's two most forward players Anthony Gordon (Matt) and Alex Iwobi (Ryan) combined for one shot off target and 24 losses of possession. Gordon was the lesser rated of the two at a 6.4 but Iwobi's 6.7 wasn't much better.
- Chelsea's lone representative in that scrappy 1-0 win over Everton was Last Man In Armando Broja. Mike rode the LMI lightning for the first time with the Albanian striker and found some joy with a 7.1 as the youngster who spent season on loan at Southampton packed two successful attacking dribbles and a perfect duels record (4/4) into fifteen minutes of play.
- Taking Fulham's shock draw with Liverpool out of the equation (for reasons), Spurs were the stars of the day. Unfortunately for Scott, Harry Kane continued his career-long trend of slow starts. Tottenham's talismanic striker did not contribute to any of his side's 4 goals against Southampton and he lost the ball more than 1 out of 3 threes he came into contact with it. He finished the afternoon with a 6.7.
- James Ward-Prowse's opener took much needed clean sheet consideration off the table for Andrew's pick Cristian Romero. Nevertheless, the Argentinian defender was solid otherwise at the back and avoided his customary yellow card to finish on an even 7.0 in the victory.
- But our day's top scorer was his usual influential self. Pavli got a 7.9 from Heung-min Son based off an assist, three key tackles, and two dangerous shots on goal. Son somehow only had two top scores last year, so this puts him well on his way to surpassing that total this campaign.
- Optimally, Aleksandar Mitrovic sent early shockwaves through the league by scoring twice for Fulham to hold Liverpool to an opening match draw. His 9.4 rating is the highest he's achieved since a hat trick against Bristol City in the Championship this past January.
