- The new season kicked off with the Lakers taking on the defending champion Warriors as well as Eastern Conference rivals Boston and Philadelphia squaring off.
- No picks came from Boston or Philadelphia. 5 of the 6 made came from the Lakers.
- Three was the magic number across all of our selections in a way. However for defending Pick One champion Matt is wasn't as magical. As the lone Golden State backer, Matt only got 3 PRA from Warriors sixth man Jonathan Kuminga who missed all three of his shots from the field and snared just three boards in 13 minutes.
- Thirty-three was what both Los Angeles' Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook brought to the table on Opening Night. Davis got a trifecta of selectors (Colin, Lou, and Trevor) 33 PRA from 27 points and 6 rebounds. Ryan earned his 33 PRA with a double-double from Russell Westbrook.
- But fifty-three was not only the top score of the evening but also the optimal one on a night filled with star performances. Al came off the top rope with his first selection of the season nearly getting a triple-double from LeBron James. His 53 PRA more than doubled the top score from last season's Opening Night and put our champion from two seasons ago in a good position to reclaim his crown.
