- Detroit had two selections on the evening but their selectors obviously got different games than what they expected. The 0-4 Pistons moved Trevor's pick Kelly Olynyk to the bench and tried pairing Colin's pick Saddiq Bey with the similarly styled Jerami Grant. Offensively not much changed as Olynyk went for 22 PRA off the pine while Bey led the team in scoring on his way to 27 PRA. Be wary that Olynyk had a +17 +/- for the game while every starter was in the negatives, so his time as a Bench Bargain may be short lived.
- Matt's second Last Man In of the season went exactly half as poorly as the first one. Oddly enough, Jordan Poole was facing Jaren Jackson Jr. and the Grizzlies and scored the first bucket of an eventual overtime loss to Memphis. His 14 PRA for the day was the second lowest among Warriors starters and was also second lowest in the day's Pick One proceedings because...
- Our second pair of teammates on the night was Daniel Theis (Ryan) and Christian Wood (Al) of the Houston Rockets. The two starting big men for Houston struggled against the Jazz with Theis only grabbing three rebounds and missing all of his three-point attempts ending with 10 PRA in 20 rotation-plagued minutes. Wood was the bronze medalist scorer for the day with 24 PRA, but that total fell below the lofty expectation set for him after last season.
- That of course leaves Lou with his first top score of the season coming from Kyle Kuzma. Despite Montrezl Harrell being moved to the starting five, Kuzma still provided plenty of scoring punch and rebounding to get Lou a much needed 29 PRA.
- In terms of optimal score, you would have to look to the main contributor to Detroit's horrendous defensive +/- numbers, Joel Embiid. Playing basically on one leg, the MVP candidate went for 51 PRA against the Pistons. For Bench Bargains we head to Texas for the pair of Houston's Alperen Sengun and Dallas' Jalen Brunson. Sengun had a rookie boosted 38 PRA in Houston's defeat while Brunson led all non-starting veterans with 31 PRA in Dallas' win over the Spurs.
