The maddening duality of my ability to pick correctly in these two games continues. Beat The Streak has been the kinder of the two as of late but I know that can turn on a dime. I will be doubling up in both games today with hopes of continuing and turning around fortunes. There is a full slate of sports for you to get back to so I'll get to it.
My platoon of favorable first baseman came through for me last evening. Paul Goldschmidt got a hit against the Giants while Adrian Gonzalez just plodded through another 3-for-4 game with 2 more RBIs. While I am a fan of those two gentlemen, the same cannot be said for my two picks today. The first one, Angel Pagan, comes from the defending champion San Francisco Giants. Not only does he play for the enemy, his inability to stay healthy last year cost me some coin in fantasy baseball. With that being said, I cannot ignore his hot start and a very favorable matchup against Rubby De La Rosa and Arizona. Wil Myers and the Padres may be slowly morphing into the new Rockies. If I have to see a Dane Cook commercial talking about "Padtober" or something equally as dumb, I may powerbomb my TV. Nevertheless, Myers and company get Chicago and Kyle Hendricks today. Hendricks didn't make it out of the fifth inning in his first start against Colorado. He may face a similar fate today against the Fathers.
I have an ugly L2 staring me in the face on Streak for the Cash. I am going to try to save my April with some playoff hockey. I said many times before the Blues' Game One against Minnesota that I was not afraid of the scorching hot goaltending of Devan Dubnyk. I am still unafraid but a bit humbled going into Game Two. I am still picking my beloved Blues to even the series at the Scottrade Center. I just hope this isn't a jinx. I will also be picking the Anaheim Ducks again. I personally don't think that Winnipeg will get more than one game from this series. If they do, it won't be at the Pond. Ducks go up 2-0 and I head to Sunday with a W2.
LATE ADDITION: Normally that would be the end of this. Instead, I am adding the NBA.com Drive To The Finals game to this column for the entirety of the NBA Playoffs! It is a simple Pick One Challenge game in which you pick one player per game day tallying points, rebounds, and assists. The catch is once you pick the player, they are gone from your selection pool. It is best to take players early on who you think are going to get bounced from the Playoffs early. My opening pick is Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Greek Freak and the Bucks have been quite the story this year. I don't feel they have what it takes to make it past Chicago in the first round though. HAPPY STREAKING EVERYBODY!!
