The Colts may have been the victors last night on Monday Night Football against the Giants but nobody from my favorite squad shall be getting praise from me today. I will be heaping all of it onto Giants running back Andre Williams. There was an inordinate amount of passing last night, a shade over 700 yards between the two teams. With that much aerial work, there isn't much room for the rushers to really get going. To be honest, not even you Mr. Williams had a good game. You only were able to muster an unsightly 1.8 yards per carry. BUT, when it mattered most, you delivered. After Andrew Luck cut your secondary to ribbons to start the second half, I thought I was done for. You guys were losing ground fast and would need to pass to make up for it. Eli hit Odell Beckham Jr. with a 59 yard bomb that field position chicken shit into chicken cutlets. (I hate chicken salad so I amended the saying.) After a run by yourself and an incompletion, Eli almost struck my streak dead. He found you in space and you seemed end zone bound. BUT YOU SAID NAY! Being the valiant Streak protector that you are Andre Williams, you found pity in your heart and went down at the one yard line. One play later you were rewarded for your generosity by plunging through the Colts defensive line for a touchdown. It was a win-win for everybody! Well, except your team. You guys lost the game. Keep your head up though, you've made a middle aged boy's unrealistic dream of winning a fantasy streak game on the internet that much more attainable. I humbly salute you for your efforts.
I picked against the Colts (ability to score two passing touchdowns in quick succession) last night and I will go against one of my other favorite clubs for today. Last time Liverpool faced off with Real Madrid, I couldn't bare to pick against my treasured Reds. Instead, I nearly gave myself a coronary and an aneurysm at the same time watching (or Twitter following) Arsenal have to use two very late goals to beat Anderlecht in the Champions League. I am trashing those reservations this afternoon. Liverpool looked horrid all around in a loss to Newcastle in the Premier League over the weekend and will be rotating an unimpressive squad to head to the Bernabeu in Madrid. Real however are in the ascendency. Gareth Bale returns from injury and all of their summer signings are finally starting to gel with the established Galacticos they already had in tow. Greater shocks have come in competitions past but until Brendan Rodgers can find some magic tonic for his current squad, or Daniel Sturridge returns, Liverpool are the Walking Dead. Cristiano and company might as well be Rick Grimes and friends. HAPPY STREAKING EVERYBODY!!
