I've already began the streaking action for today as I look to build off a good Sunday. I'm riding more than W2's or greater in both games for the just the second time in two weeks. Man, I've really lowered my standards for what defines "good." And I have really low standards in that regard to begin with. Regardless, on to the picks!
On Beat the Streak, I am going with a SIP double play combo in LA's Howie Kendrick and Houston's Carlos Correa to get me to a W8 for the first time since June 25th. Correa reached on a walk against Carlos Carrasco in his first at-bat of the night. Carrasco gave up five hits to the rest of the Astros' order and is down 4-0 after one inning. Correa will get his.
Like Howie's non-related namesake Kyle Kendrick, I enjoy picking on Philadelphia's Sean O'Sullivan. O'Sullivan has been struggling to keep his ERA under 6.00 and has a ghastly 1.58 entering tonight's game at Dodger Stadium. Kendrick is one of the few Dodgers to have a track record against the bearded hurler, and it is a promising one. He went 2-for-4 in their only meeting.
In the Streak for the Cash universe, I am at a W2 thanks to the United States Women's rout of Japan in the Women's World Cup Final. I am picking the Atlanta Braves tonight who send Matt Wisler to the mound opposed by Kyle Lohse and the lowly Brewers. Wisler was one of the prized prospects from the Craig Kimbrel trade and has more than held his own through three Major League starts. I am hoping tonight's is more like his first and third outing (2-0, 0.68 ERA) than his second (0-1, 9.00 ERA) HAPPY STREAKING EVERYBODY!!!!!
LATE EDIT: Correa grounded out in his second at-bat.
