There is no justice in this world. There is nothing but karmic retribution. I must've been a war criminal in a past life because I've been on quite the shit run lately on Streaking In Public. After an amazing beginning to May, a W14 on Beat the Streak and W12 on Streak For The Cash, this column has been the Chamber of Horrors. Yes, it has been harder to look at my words this past week than looking at Abdullah the Butcher being strapped into an over-the-top electric chair in a cage. You can watch that atrocity here, or just continue on reading what I can only assume will be atrocious Streak advice.
Bryce Harper may have only gotten one hit yesterday, but it was in his first at-bat (and a home run) so I salute him. I always have a special place for players who don't make me sweat out results. With that little piece of success in tow, I irrationally feel it is OK to try to double down again. I will be doing so with Kansas City's Mike Moustakas and Colorado's Troy Tulowitzki. Moustakas will face the Reds and Jason Marquis. How Marquis is still around is a mystery unto itself, but he has a 6.63 ERA and 1.63 WHIP so I am going to go against him before he ends up DFA'ed. Tulo gets Phiadelphia's Severino Gonzalez. Gonzalez has been tuned up thus far in 2015. He has an ERA of 10.57, WHIP of 2.53, and a face melting opponent's batting average of .469. If Tulowitzki can't get a hit off him, I don't deserve a streak.
My Streak for the Cash, and personal sports rooting interest, was a complete train wreck last night. It started with the Draft Lottery with losing the Streak prop. The Knicks fell out of the top three and that meant I had a 2-1 shot to win with Philly and Los Angeles against Minnesota. The worst team hadn't won the lottery since 2004 and the Timberwolves had never won the rights to pick first. Well, both happened and I was looking for something to kick. The Dodgers just snowballed the evening in getting shut out by the Giants. They lost to Tim Hudson who was just one start removed from giving up 15 hits to the goddamn Marlins. I don't know how to respond so I picked the first game I saw when I loaded the Streak page today. Congratulations Juventus and Lazio! I hope you two put on a show in the Coppa Italia Final as I need a goal to be scored in each half. It'll probably be a 0-0 finish and go to penalties.
I have no distinct rooting interest in the Rockets/Warriors series, but I'd still like to keep my head above the 50th percentile on Drive To The Finals. I am sitting on that exact tipping point after a miserable 10 PRA last night from Terrence Jones. I need a bounce back this evening and I am very, OK mildly, confident that DeMarre Carroll will provide it. Carroll has been a man possessed for Atlanta this postseason. Keep the holy water away from his though, he is going to need that same demonic basketball ability for Hotlanta to get by Cleveland. in the end, I don't think the Hawks will have enough. If you've seen the majority of these articles though, I've been wrong many times before. HAPPY STREAKING EVERYBODY!!!
