They say that old habits die hard. Who they are will forever be a mystery, but it should be anything but a mystery as to why I am reverting back to some tried and true Streak favorites on this sunny Sunday. Yesterday was a bit of a mess, mostly because I drank myself into an early afternoon beer coma following Liverpool's 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace. Nevertheless, I was somehow able to make it through the day half-unscathed in the Streakosphere.
The black mark, other than Liverpool's dismal send off of their captain, was Houston second baseman Jose Altuve once again destroying a Beat the Streak run. It is quite odd that the reigning AL batting champ and MVP (Mike Trout) are the only two people to kill off my Beat the Streak entry twice in 2015. That of course just means I need to call upon the man who not only murdered my longest effort in years (15) but is also the most picked player of mine in 2015 (17 times), Adrian Gonzalez. I'll pair him with Nelson Cruz because I am lazy and just took one of the popular game recommendations.
It is a light board today over on Streak for the Cash. The Streakmaster is dealing with a similar malaise to myself it seems as there are only twelve matchups to choose from, ten if you discount the two that have already gone live. Similarly to Beat the Streak, I'll be picking the team that killed off my best run of 2015 today in the New York Mets. Hopefully they didn't use up all their offense in their 14-1 drubbing of the Brewers yesterday. I don't need a replay of watching my W12 swirl down the toilet because Terry Collins decided to pull Matt Harvey in a one run game after just 99 pitches.
We have a Game 7 special on Drive To The Finals. The Rockets have kept emerging from the coffin that the Clippers just can't nail shut. The pickings are slim for me as I have used the vast majority of usable options from both sides. It came down to a coin flip between J.J. Redick of the Clippers and Trevor Ariza of the Rockets. Redick was heads, Ariza was tails. We'll see this afternoon if the mantra "tails never fails" rings true. HAPPY STREAKING EVERYBODY!!!
