Yesterday marked the return of Bleeding Your Colors' picks columns. It wasn't a flying start for myself in the NFL but hopefully the NHL is nicer to me. There is a four game slate on the ice tonight with two afternoon Columbus Day starts and two 7:30 puck drops.
All picks are made with composite puck lines from ESPN.com. Home team in all CAPS.
BOSTON -1.5 over Colorado
Colorado has yet to score in two games and have not been good in defense. The Bruins haven't been off to the greatest of starts either, but they are at home. Until Colorado can prove themselves on both ends of the rink, I think that the opposition with the 1.5 goal spread is the smart choice.
Anaheim -1.5 over BUFFALO
Anaheim was also one of my selections today on Streaking In Public, so it should come as no surprise that I am taking the Ducks here. Buffalo is at home but they are still a mess of a franchise after their disaster of a 2013-14 season. Anaheim scores in bunches while Buffalo lets them in just as frequently. Take the Ducks laying the 1.5 goals.
Montreal +1.5 TAMPA BAY
Montreal is the only 3-0 team in the NHL currently. There are several teams at 2-0 but the Habs are the only ones to be at the 6 point plateau as of today. They travel to Tampa Bay, the team directly behind them in the Atlantic Division. The Lightning have Steven Stamkos back healthy but the best player on either team so far has been Montreal's Tomas Plekanec. His five points through three games is one shy of the NHL lead. Montreal may lose their perfect record on the road, but they won't be blown out. Take the Habs and the extra 1.5 goals.
FLORIDA +1.5 Ottawa
I literally haven't seen a thing from either team thus far. I'm taking the home teams getting spotted 1.5 goals. Plain and simple.
