It is a beautiful day outside. With that, I've decided to make both sets of picks, Beat the Streak and Streak for the Cash, around some lovely afternoon baseball. I'll lead off with Beat the Streak. After a weekend away, I am going to try to build on the not-so Opening Day heroics of Hanley Ramirez. I will keep the Red Sox theme alive with my selections today. Pedroia owned Masahiro Tanaka in two games against the Japanese right hander last year and has hit safely in both games thus far at Yankee Stadium. Pedroia is only half the equation though as my second pick is former Red Sox and current Dodger Adrian Gonzalez. You know you are off to a hot start when a 1-for-2 day drops your batting average. He's hitting .667 through five games and pummels Arizona starter Josh Collmenter. El Titan will get me to a three streak by the time dinner's done.
My Streak for the Cash pick will also come from the 4:05 slate of Major League Baseball. King Felix Hernandez and the Seattle Mariners travel to Oakland to play the A's. Jesse Hahn will take the bump for Oakland. Hahn couldn't beat a lesser team in Texas in his first start of 2015. I think he'll suffer the same fate at the hands of the best pitcher in the American League this afternoon. If I am feeling froggy tonight I may jump at the late Innings 5-8 home run prop from the Sunday Night Yankees/Red Sox tilt. Honestly though, I just want to be back in the green after Golden State's backdoor cover against Portland the other night. HAPPY STREAKING EVERYBODY!!
