That hasn't happened for quite some time. Yesterday I went 0-3 on Streak for the Cash and none of picks even came close to coming in. I knew I was in for trouble when Manchester City could not stop the offensive juggernaut known as (relegation bound) Queens Park Rangers. Lucky for fans of the Citizens, they have Sergio Aguero and he single handedly earned the Sky Blues a share of the spoils with his brace. His efforts did me no good as I needed the defending Premier League champions to beat the bottom feeding Rangers by 2+ goals. Maybe if that bum Kun would have replicated his work against Spurs I'd have been OK. But noooooooooooo. My woes were compounded by my mid-afternoon pick, West Fucking Virginia. I've been trying to cut back on the cursing in recent months, there is enough of it on our podcast. But what the Mountaineers did yesterday was just fucking embarrassing. They were run out of the building by a Texas team that was under .500. Bravo West Virginia, I just hope all the depression moonshine you drank after the loss doesn't sap you of all your vision.
I should have just ended it there. I could have taken my L2 and gone home. Well, I was already home for the entire day because I am poor but that is besides the point. The point is that I didn't need to pick Mauricio "Shogun" Rua before I traveled to slumberville. It was an unofficial SIP selection. The thing is that when I usually make "off-book" picks, they hit. The only thing Shogun hit was the ground in 34 seconds of the first round after Ovince St. Preux did some fung shui rearranging of his face. This is why I stay out of the fight game, especially MMA. There is too much volatility in it and the majority of the time I end up feeling like the guy who has just been laid to waste in the cage. Minus the bruising and bleeding of course.
After a disappointing Saturday, I feel I need a team that I can trust. I need a team that I can believe in. This may sound odd to you but that team right now is the Sacramento Kings. There isn't a funner team right now to watch in the NBA than the Sacramento Kings. Led by Boogie Cousins and Rudy Gay, the Kings are a surprising 5-1 and are winning with some old school 1980's Denver Nuggets/Golden State Warriors basketball. If you don't get the reference, it means that the Kings philosophy is to basically score more points than the other guy while not really trying to stop the other guy. They are good enough right now to win 120-115 games but if either Cousins or Gay falls injured, they may end up like the team they are facing tonight. That team is of course the Oklahoma City Thunder. Without Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, the undermanned Thunder look like a shell of a team. It is my hope that though it would be entertaining, I don't have to sweat out a 121-118 game tonight as the Thunder have only broken triple digits once this season. That one time though, they beat Denver. Let's start back at W1 Sacramento, and I'll post a Brian McKnight video tomorrow*. HAPPY STREAKING EVERYBODY!!
