Fear. It is the consuming emotion I feel when I pass five on Streak for the Cash. (Yes, I am no-selling the two hits I got from the Cardinals contingent last night on BTS.) After I arrived at work to see that Argentina had handled Hong Kong 7-0 I began to feel trepidation about picking France against Armenia. You see folks, when you are like me and have never passed a W10 EVER, the space between the red star (W5) and the blue one (W10) is a particularly nervy time. France calmed those nerves with a solid 3-0 victory. I almost wish I lost just because I had to rely on France. Nevertheless, I turned the page to today's Streak board and the fear set back in.
After resisting the urge to pick a hockey game last night, I decided my best course of action to keep my streak alive tonight was of course, hockey. The African Cup of Nations games always frighten me so they were out. I already lost one recent streak on betting on a sweep so Orioles/Royals is out. I am sick of both the Cardinals and the Giants so it was toodles to the straight up pick and its subsequent props. That left me with the Bruins versus the Red Wings and the Coyotes versus the Oilers. What it came down to was that I've seen all four teams play so far and the former Phoenix now Arizona Coyotes have the best argument for their selection. I'll refrain from the bullet points because we all know how that made me look last time. Goalie Mike Smith may have been walloped in the team's opener against Winnipeg, but he is 8-0-1 in his last 10 starts against Edmonton. They are coming off a great win in overtime against the defending champion Kings. Those same Kings throttled Edmonton 6-1 yesterday. I am fearful of seeing red again but hoping that these results mean that the Coyotes should have no problem with the Oilers at home, and I have a W8 on the plane to Hawaii tomorrow. Yes, I'll be in Hawaii from Thursday to Tuesday so any I content I am able to get out will be sporadic at best. I will try my damnedest to keep these coming for those who read with any regularity. If for some reason I am unable, just watch this Rock promo on loop. HAPPY STREAKING EVERYBODY!!
