Let me first take the time to thank every veteran for their service to this nation of ours. Your sacrifice should be valued so much more than a day off from work and a couple parades a year. Sadly, I can't provide even that. Just some horrible picks surrounded by horrible jokes with a bit of self-loathing sprinkled in.
Beat the Streak may be a one man show for a little while. Miguel Cabrera got his hits mid-afternoon yesterday and a sense of calm rolled over me. I didn't have to wait for another game to end. There was no following a random Gamecast hoping for extra innings as I saw the other half of my double down on an 0-for-4. Michael Brantley will be on center stage this memorial day. He's only had one career at-bat against Texas' Phil Klein, but it was a home run. Here's to him doubling his money today.
I've ran into a certain pitfall the past couple days on Streak for the Cash. Well, one pitfall outside of losing constantly. I've had to shelve two picks because of poor timing out of games. I got a DNP from the Astros on Saturday and one from Cavs/Hawks Game 3 last night. While I would have won the Astros pick, I dodged a bullet as somehow the Hawks forced overtime. I agree with Lang Whitaker's take.
ZOMBIE HAWKS GAIN STRENGTH AS GAME PROGRESSES

Paul Millsap made it two consecutive 30+ PRA performances for me on Drive To The Finals. His 31, mostly after Al Horford's undue dismissal, was one of the big reasons the Hawks defied logic and kept the Cavs from turning the game into a rout. Eventually, the NBA got what they wanted. That doesn't mean Atlanta should hang their heads for making them work for it. My pick today is Andrew Bogut. I don't trust Jason Terry enough to use him tonight, even though I am preparing for a Golden State sweep. Bogut allows me to keep the Splash Brothers and Harrison Barnes in the fold for the Finals. I also will have LeBron James at my disposal for the Finals. It'll be fun to finally make up some ground. HAPPY STREAKING EVERYBODY AND ENJOY YOUR MEMORIAL DAY!!!!
