Well, this feels a bit more like home. A little up, a little down. Internet outages and inability to pick my way out of a paper bag. If you followed along yesterday, you saw that my work internet sapped my chance to make my second Streak pick. It also kept me from following along and providing updates on how my picks were doing (which a select few people could even care about). It was almost a blessing from the Streak gods as I dodged a 6-1 Yankee loss because of the freak outage. I took that blessing and wiped my ass with it by ending the night on an L1 anyway. This is my existence.
While Verizon and my own idiocy plagued my Streak for the Cash entry on Thursday, no such effect was seen on Beat the Streak. Jacoby Ellsbury and Robinson Cano were both able to get a hit putting me back on course towards a 57 game, $5.6 million payday. Before I drift further into an unrealistic fantasy, let me talk about my picks today. Both men are returning SIP batters, with Adam Jones making his second 2015 appearance and Paul Goldschmidt making his third. The thing with these two is that they are two hitters I've already lost with, Jones on SIP 96 and Goldschmidt on SIP 98. Positivity reigns supreme though as I think that Adam and Paul will ravage Jered Weaver and Chad Billingsley respectively.
It showed yesterday that me doubling down on Streak for the Cash is never a wise move. Therefore, today I am just picking the one game and it ties into my Beat the Streak as well. I'm taking the Arizona Diamondbacks with Chase Anderson on the hill to upend the Philadelphia Phillies and Chad Billingsley. I won the last time I picked against Billingsley so I am hoping for a repeat performance. Heck, I may even try to double....KNOCK IT OFF UTLEY!! Know your limits!
Finally in the rotting grave known as my Drive to the Finals entry, I mourn the loss of the Chicago Bulls. A team that I've hated for the better part of my life gets my condolences because now we once again have to continue the fiasco of a Eastern Conference, and potentially NBA, Finals with LeBron James. The Bulls didn't even put up a fight in getting blown out of their own building by Cleveland. I don't even know how Jimmy Butler produced a 26 PRA because he was invisible for the majority of the contest. Nevertheless, I'm taking Paul Pierce of the soon to be ousted Wizards this evening. Pierce got a little ahead of himself after yelling "Series!" at the Hawks bench following his would-be winner in Game 5. Unless he meant that Atlanta was winning the series. Al Horford's soul crushing lay in to win Game 5 should be enough to demoralize and break a battered Wizards team. Pierce is the best pick I have left since I don't want to go with Nick Calathes or some other jamoke from the exiting Grizzlies. HAPPY STREAKING EVERYBODY!!!
